Friends with Flair

TGIF and thank goodness we have Monday off!  Although it is a day off for us, it is always a day of remembrance for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

A few weeks ago, we had an 8 x 8 scrapbook recipe page challenge.  Since I have a bunch of 8 x 8 page protectors, it occurred to me that a handmade receipe book with some of our favorite family recipes would make a great wedding gift.  I made my second page and here it is!  All the stamps I used are from Unity's Samantha Walker set, "Decadent Pear."  They are amazing!  I think this qualifies for Unity's Tooty Fruity challenge and I intend to enter it here.

If you don't have this set, try pre-ordering the new Ippity set below.  If you order it by June 1, I can mail it to you in time to make something and enter the challenge yourself! (Continental U.S. only for this offer.)  Just scroll on over to the sidebar to make your purchase!

Have great Friday and a great weekend, everyone!

Unity Friends with Falir

TGIF!!!

Here is a project I made, finally using one of the fabulous, huge Suzi Blu stamps!  They are all amazing...this is a gift bag I did for a girl's graduation.  I used the bag from the store but I wanted to cover up its name so this is what I did!  I used colored pencils since I only have a couple of Copic markers (my fab friend gave me some extras).  I was tempted to stamp a chandelier on the right side but DH didn't care for that.  The animal background is from Unity's March KOTM.

So, visit all the other Unity peeps who've posted here and leave some love.  Maybe you'll win something!!!  TGIF, I can't say that enough today!

Unity NSD Recipe Page

I love the idea of scrapbooking recipes.  I had never thought about doing it before but I could see it as a fabulous shower or wedding gift.  Here's my take - my mother's (and grandmother's) fabulous lemon bread recipe - it never fails and it is my go-to item for parties and hostess gifts.

Here's a shot of the bottom left corner with the hearts and houses from Ippity's "House a Home,"  on of my favorite sets.  The circle that says "us" is from Ippity's "Time for Travel."  Scroll over to the sidebar to purchase these sets:-)

How's this title?  I got a template from the Cutting Cafe and traced the lemons so I could Stamp "Lemon" on there.  I used Unity's "Frame This Alpha" for the title "Lemon Bread."

And, of course, a closer view of the directions for the lemon bread.  This bread is always a hit!

This post is in honor of my mother and grandmother and mothers everywhere who help make us who we are.  Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Friday Friends with Flair!!!

TGIF!!!!!  This week I have some tags using techniques I learned at Stamp Asylum last week....

The first one uses a Unity Itty Bitty that I love!  It is by Websters Pages and contains the stamp with three butterflies and the sentiment.  You can see that the tag is overstamped with three different but complementaty shades of ink.  Love this!

Next is a tag incorporating birds - I used the Ippity "So This is Love" set - scoot to the sidebar to buy it 'cuz ya need it:-)  I used several different distress inks to get this sunset look.

Finally, a technique with Distress Ink on one side and Distress Crackle Paint on the other.  I love the "Lovely Lilacs" stamp.  I stamped a sentiment on a piece of pink paper and then punched a butterfly and added Websters Bloomers to the bottom of the tag.  I love it!!

I hope everyone has a great Friday and a great weekend!!

Unity's Birthday - Dream Big

Unity Stamp Company is celebrating its third birthday today!  Make sure you check out their blog.

Since we do not seem to be having our usual Ippity Hippity Hop tomorrow I thought I'd throw up a tag I made this morning.  I was feeling inspired after taking a class at Stamp Asylum in Plano yesterday. Although the butterfly stamp in the class was from Stampers Anonymous, my home creation is from  Unity.

This tag was used to demonstrate adding dimension by using three shades of ink and stamping them all over the tag.  The class used a lovely botanical butterfly/moth stamp that was a row of four butterlies and moths.  However, my beautiful Webster's Pages Butterfly Itty Bitty worked perfectly at home,  Plus, it has the great sentiment included, all for about six bucks or so!  I just took a piece of ribbon from a Christmas package that blended perfectly to be the topper.  Gorgeousness!!

Happy Birthday, Unity!!!!!!
